Base 21 #6386

Base 21 is a former military base near Žatec. Five hectares of land, surrounded on all sides by fields - the nearest building is far away, so you are assured of peace and privacy.

The terrain is varied. You will find grassy decks for pitching a tent, places in the shade of trees and paved areas for caravans and motorhomes. Those who don't have their own tent or want to be sure of a roof over their heads can sleep in one of the camouflaged bunk beds - a simple and practical facility, where all you need to bring is a sleeping bag.

There are sanitary facilities with a toilet, drinking water, an electric hook-up and a fire pit. Children will enjoy the quad bike track. The place has a military past - the army left here in 1994 and bunkers and trenches remain. Today, a group of collectors of military equipment takes care of the area and their humour can be seen in the little things, such as the palouk named Karlovo náměstí.

Žatec, with its hop-growing heritage listed by UNESCO, is a few minutes' drive away, and it takes about an hour to get here from Prague. The surrounding countryside is flat and open - it is easy to cycle and walk in.
